It’s your body and what you do with it is your concern. But consider that it’s the only one you’re going to get. It makes sense to take care of it. I don’t feel comfortable with public funds being used rehabilitate drug addicts, but it’s better than them going untreated. They should get one chance, though. And they should pay back for it, through volunteer or community service work.
I do not consider marijuana to be a drug in the same sense of the word as heroin, cocaine or methamphetamine. A number of my friends use marijuana and it is very beneficial to them: it relieves nausea and promotes appetite (“the munchies”).
I fully support the legalization — and taxation — of marijuana.
The only thing the prohibition of marijuana has accomplished is to make criminals out of what would otherwise be honest, tax-paying business entrepreneurs. Of course, there should be some restrictions, like a legal age at which it can be consumed.
Methamphetamine is another story altogether; it is evil shit. I’ve been there, done that, and thankfully was able to walk away before it took my life over completely. It was fun for about five minutes, and for the next three weeks I felt like the walking dead. It should not be classified as a drug, it should be classified as a poison. I don’t meth around with that stuff anymore. Never again.
Moderation is the key. If a substance is truly physically addictive and does not allow for moderation, then it should be avoided.
Your substance use should not interfere with the rest of your life. If it does, you have a problem.
What Is Legal Age?
There should be only one legal age. If you’re old enough to vote, drive a car, serve on a jury and be sent off to war, then you should be old enough to have a drink. I’m not saying they should lower the drinking age, but if they don’t, they should raise the legal age for all of the above. If the voters let them, that is…
