My take on a traditional holiday favorite. Technically, a Minnesotan would call this a ‘hot dish’ since it has meat in it.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 can french style green beans, drained
- 1 can asparagus pieces and tips, drained
- 1 package bacon pieces
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 small (6 oz) can sliced mushrooms
- ½ cup half and half
- 1 cup french fried onions.
- ½ tsp white pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat oven to 350º.
- In a 2-quart sauce pan, combine soup and half-and-half and mix together well. Add in green beans, asparagus, mushrooms, bacon pieces, white pepper and black pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add ½ cup of the French fried onions.
- Pour into an 8 x 8 casserole. Spread out evenly.
- Bake 20 minutes. Remove, top with the rest of the French fried onions and return to the oven.
- Bake an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
