Did you get an e-mail from my domain trying to sell you something, or asking you for personal information? I’m sure somebody has, as I have been receiving delivery failures from people I never sent e-mails to originating from addresses @themindofmatt.com that do not exist. Mind you, I am not an übergeek who knows a lot about these kinds of things, so I’ve been stumbling through my hosting provider’s configuration trying to block this from happening. There is only one valid e-mail address under this domain, which is matt @ thisdomain. I do not use admin@, postmaster@ or any other such identifier.

Most historians agree that Marie Antoinette never actually said “let them eat cake” when informed that the people had no bread. It’s just one of a hundred phrases credited to individuals who never said them, like “Elementary, my dear Watson,” (which Sherlock Holmes never said, at least in any of the canonical Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle) or “Just the facts, ma’am,” which Jack Webb never said on Dragnet. But the lessons of the French Revolution of 1789 – a rebellion inspired by our own insurrection against King George III of England started three years earlier – still echo today.

Sometimes, Mother Nature can be a real bitch. This year has been one of those times. From the snowpocalyptic winter we just emerged from to the summer-like spring we’re in now, the old gal has turned out to be full of surprises.
This has been an another atypical year weather-wise. After the snowpocalyptic winter we just endured and the tornado that ransacked St. Louis Park and North Minneapolis last month, we’re now dealing with a June which – for a few days at least – thought it was July or August.
