The Year Without A Spring

Sometimes, Mother Nature can be a real bitch. This year has been one of those times. From the snowpocalyptic winter we just emerged from to the summer-like spring we’re in now, the old gal has turned out to be full of surprises.

This has been an another atypical year weather-wise. After the snowpocalyptic winter we just endured and the tornado that ransacked St. Louis Park and North Minneapolis last month, we’re now dealing with a June which – for a few days at least – thought it was July or August. Yesterday the thermometer peaked at 103ºF, the highest temperature recorded here since the horrific drought summer of 1988 and only the second time this century the temperature …

Sarah Speaks

After days of silence, Sarah Palin has finally broken her silence with an eight-minute video posted to her Facebook page. In this video, she lays blame for the shootings in Tucson, Arizona solely on Jared Lee Loughner, and on this point I concede that she is correct. Loughner’s rampage was clearly the act of a deranged mind driven more by the voices in his head than by any Tea Party rhetoric. So (surprise, surprise) I agree with her on this point.

Sarah, a.k.a. “Caribou Barbie,” then goes on to point the finger of recrimination at the liberal media “pundints” (sic) for turning this tragic event into a spectacle for political gain. She makes a passing reference to her map …

Birthday Boo

Last night’s dress rehearsal went fabulously. Unfortunately, in all the commotion to get ready, I overlooked something. Worse… I forgot my best friend’s birthday. Well, actually, it wasn’t Brody’s birthday (at least not that I know of) but it was the anniversary of the day he first came into our lives. We don’t know when he was born. All we know is that we brought him home on March 25 and they told us he was one year old. So we treat that day like his first birthday and increment his age one year on that day.
