Some people make me sick. Like one acquaintance of mine who is best described as a Gay Nazi, and when I say Nazi, I’m not using the term figuratively as in “grammar nazi” or “feminazi” but rather in the literal sense of the word: a follower of the doctrine of Adolf Hitler. He’s racist, sexist and antisemitic, and his self loathing is epic. We were friends on Facebook until he posted a comment to my wall to the effect of “atheists should be hunted down and killed by Second Amendment Americans.” First I sent him a message telling him to f… himself. Then I unfriended and blocked him, and the bastard’s damned lucky I didn’t report him to Facebook. In retrospect, I should have, but I guess I feel sorry for the guy. I think the reason he spews so much hate is because he hates himself.
I do not, on the other hand, feel sorry for George Zimmerman, the self-proclaimed neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Florida who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, a menacing 17 year old African American boy dangerously armed with a bag of Skittles™ and a bottle of ice tea. And because of an extremely ill-conceived law that says you have the right to “stand your ground” the bastard is literally getting away with murder. As for the local authorities in this dark red state, they couldn’t care less. The kid would have probably grown up to vote Democrat anyway.
And this, I say to all those so-called “patriots” in the Tea Party and the politicians who kiss their posteriors, is why we need a federal government. The federal government should walk right in and take over. F… state’s rights! States have responsibilities, too, and when they fail their people, then the federal government has to move in, because America takes care of her people.
